Day tour of the City of Tzfas

On Tuesday, ה אב, yahrtzeit of the Arizal, the entire Yeshivas Kayitz trekked down from yeshiva to the old cemetery of tzfas to join the many people who came from all over Eretz yisroel to Daven at his kever. First stopping at the Rebbe’s brother Reb Yisroel Aryeh Leib to say a quick kapital Tehilim. The next day the bochrim were treated to an exciting and uplifting tour of tzfas. beginning with the modern day story of its capture in 1948 visiting an old army base. Continued with moving back in time to an exquisite view of the ancient city of tzfas and its many Kabbalist. Followed by an amazing presentation, delivered by a professional glass blower, about glass blowing and it’s meaning. The day finally ended with delicious pizza delivered to us in the old city, before returning to yeshiva on busses.

Video: Yerushalayim Part 4

The fourth and final video in the series documenting the unforgettable trip to Yerushalayim

Sunday morning, after Shacharis and a delicious breakfast, the bochurim enjoyed an action-packed day, beginning with the Kosel tunnel tours, followed by the Yad Vashem holocaust memorial museum, packing food for the poor at Colel Chabad Pantry Packers, and finally going around Geulah and Meah She'arim, where the bochurim were again given money to buy supper, before finally heading back onto the buses to Tzfas.

As Shabbos came in, we headed down to the Kosel HaMaaravi. Everyone felt the emotion of the moment, as the golden stones of the last remaining wall of the Beis HaMikdash came into view in the setting sun. The bochurim gathered their chairs in a circle and sang together seder nigunim, with Jews of all backgrounds and types gathering around to join.

On Friday, after Shacharis and breakfast, the bochurim took the short walk to Ir David, where we were shown the archaeological findings of the original city of Yerushalayim under the rule of Dovid HaMelech, and even the structure which they believe may have been the palace of Dovid. We then walked through the Siloam tunnel, which was chiseled out of the rock on the directive of Chizkiyahu HaMelech, to bring the water closer into the city of Yerushalayim, in preparation for the advance of the army of Sancheriv king of Ashur. After wading through the waters of the ancient tunnel, it was time for an essential Erev Shabbos experience; the Shuk Machane Yehuda. There the bochurim navigated the massive crowds to pick up some treats for themselves, and spend money they each received for lunch. Then it was time to go back to our base on Har Tzion to prepare for Shabbos.

Thursday morning all the bochurim excitedly packed their belongings and headed onto the buses for the most exciting trip we have had yet. Our first stop was lunch at Park Britania, from where we entered the caves of Bar Kochva.

From Hezbollah to Yiddishkeit: R' Avraham Sinai

The bochurim of yeshivas kayitz we're thrilled to have the opportunity to hear the fascinating and dramatic story of Abraham Sinai. Growing up as a Muslim in Lebanon, eventually working for the Israelis undercover in Hezbollah and how he ended up as a religious Jew living here in Tzfas.

Friday Mivtzoim!

Today, Friday, the boys divided into a number of groups going to different areas nearby for Mivtzoim.

Groups went out with a shturem to Kiryat Shemona, Teveria, Carmiel, Rosh Pina, Chatzor and local in Tzfas.

B”H the bochurim were very successful giving the opportunity to many Jews to put on Tefillin, and gave out many Shabbos candle lighting kits.

Mivtzah "Tef Hecher" Event

Since the beginning of the summer the Bochurim have been working hard to earn "dollars" on their "Tef Hecher" credit cards, by taking various hachlatos to improve their yiddishkeit and chassidishkeit. From saying Krias Shema in the correct time, with a a hat and jacket, learning Chitas and Rambam and once a week writing in to the Rebbe.

Since the beginning of the summer the Bochurim have been working hard to earn "dollars" on their "Tef Hecher" credit cards, by taking various hachlatos to improve their yiddishkeit and chassidishkeit. From saying Krias Shema in the correct time, with a a hat and jacket, learning Chitas and Rambam and once a week writing in to the Rebbe. This week, the Bochurim who had participated until now (almost the entire yeshivas kayitz!) were treated to an exclusive "Tef Hecher" event on the roof of the Tzfas sta"m museum; beginning at sunset, and continuing into the night.

Winery Tour - Army Base

On Friday, the Bochurim went to the Galil Mountain Winery, where we witnessed first hand the machinery of the wine-making process, learned about how they do it, and even got to taste some of their product. To truly appreciate the wine, we first had lessons in wine-tasting, frrom the smell to the swish in the glass. We were also extremely lucky to have the opportunity to visit the main army base in the Golan Heights, where we had the rare experience of seeing tanks and ammunition up close, with the explanation of the veteran military experts.
